Rod Sparks passed away at age 62 on Easter 3/31/13 after a courageous 5-year battle with multiple myeloma. He was born and raised in Astoria, OR and eventually settled in Lake Forest Park, WA. He served in the Air Force, obtained an accounting degree and later a Masters in Project Management, and enjoyed a 30-year career with Boeing. Rod will be remembered for his unrelenting optimism along with his good sense of humor and fun. He loved all gatherings of people and family, computer and boat projects, sailboat cruises in his Windrunner, and was often seen with a cup of Starbucks in hand. He will be truly missed. He is survived by his wife Gayle, daughter Tanya (Scott) Mac Neil, son Sean (Britt) Sparks, stepsons Mark Engel and Scott (Rachelle) Engel, 5 grandchildren, and 4 siblings. The family wishes to thank Dr. Tollman and all Rods wonde caregivers at Puget Sound Cancer Center and at Northwest Hospital on 4West. family memorial service will be held at the University Congregational United Church of Christ. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Sunday, April 28 from 3-5:30pm at the Corinthian Yacht Club, 7755 Seaview Ave. NW-Pier V, Seattle, WA 98117. Remembrances in Rods honor may be given to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, 530 Dexter Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109.
