Roy Mark Wilson

WWIl Army Ranger hero and Ballard Football star Roy Mark Wilson entered into heaven October 1, 2016 peacefully in his sleep to be eternally with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with family by his side. Roy was born to Ira and Margaret Wilson on December 8, 1923 in Bremerton, WA and was raised in Ballard. He attended Ballard High School where he won the Western Washington Championship in 1939, the Seattle High School Baseball Championship in 1940 and the Football City Championship in 1940-1941. Roy joined the Army and was a Ranger in the 2nd Battalion. He landed on Omaha Beach June 6, 1944 D-Day and led the way. His family will always carry his legacy in their hearts. After returning from the war Roy met Signe Holstein at a USO party and they married August 24, 1946. They had 3 children who were raised in Edmonds, WA: Kathie Anderson (Kenneth), Robert Wilson (Debra), and Karen Albrecht (David). Roy worked at Boeing for 40 years and retired at 65. After retirement he spent his time with his friends and family fishing, fly-fishing, hunting, and attending sporting events. He never missed a chance to throw the football or play catch with his great-grandchildren. Most importantly, Roy loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all his heart. Roy was preceded in death by his loving wife Signe, his brother Harold and sister Betty Wells. He leaves behind two sisters, Edna Farmer and Patricia Zerr. Roy also left behind five proud grandchildren: Karleen Klopp (Lance), Kenneth Anderson (Ilka), Mark Wilson (Andria), Tami Cote (Paul) and Austin Albrecht; and fourteen great grandchildren: Zachary, Samuel, Joshua and Tsion Klopp; Carter, Jason and Lauren Anderson; Alexander, Hunter and Jacob Wilson, Alex and Andrew Gallagher; and Jordan and Emma Cote.
