Rozella Janine (Ariola) Kleven

Rozella Janine (Ariola) Kleven, 90, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family and caregivers.

Born on September 9, 1935, in Yampa, Colorado, Rozella was one of four children. Rozella spent her early years in Colorado before her family moved to Eugene, Oregon, where she graduated from high school. Rozella then moved to Seattle, Washington, where she met and married Roger Kleven. Rozella and Roger shared 64 years of marriage together.

The couple made their home in Edmonds, Washington, where they were devoted parents to their two sons and active community members.

Rozella loved gardening and cooking. She was deeply committed to volunteering in her community. She loved her time at the garden in Marysville with the Snohomish County Master Gardeners. She devoted herself to gleaning, cooking, and serving at Annie’s Kitchen in Edmonds.

More than anything, Rozella cherished every moment she spent with her grandchildren. She always had time for a tea party, a game, or an art project and would drop everything to join in the fun. From trips to the tide pools on Edmonds beach (pointing out every fish and crustacean) to eating tomatoes off the vine in the backyard - she embraced the world around her and encouraged each of them to do the same.

Rozella is survived by her husband of 64 years, Roger Kleven; her son and his wife, James and Jennifer (Donze) Kleven; her son, Roger Kleven; and her six grandchildren, Sonja, Noah, Caroline, and Greta Kleven of Wisconsin, and Sam and Anna Kleven of Washington. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Dorphine Ariola and her 3 siblings, Del Ariola, Kalman Ariola, and Cheryl (Ariola) McBride.

Our most sincere gratitude goes to Dali, Juanita, and the staff at Sunset Villa Adult Family Home in Edmonds, Washington for their amazing love and care for Rozella over the past 5 years.

Celebration of Life

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 11, at 5:00 p.m. at the Edmonds Waterfront Center.
