: 0pt Ruth E. Brooks, beloved Mother and Friend passed away on September 7 th due to complications resulting from surgery. Ruth was born in Oakland, CA in 1922. Her family moved to Kenmore, WA when she was a girl, where her parents ran a resort on the beach. She graduated from Bothell High School, and attended Peterson Business College. She married Lee Brooks in 1944. Before her only child, Kathie, was born, she worked for the Seattle Beauticians Union. She was a dedicated and loving homemaker until after her divorce, when she went to work at Marontate-Jones in Seattle. Ruth also became one of the the smiling and cheerful faces of Odyssey Books, a retail fixture in downtown Edmonds. She had been an active member/officer of T.O.P.S. for many years. Ruth resided in Shoreline, WA since 1963. : 0pt Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Grace Petersen, her sisters Helen M. Farrell, and Rosemarie Stanfill, and her former husband Leland B. Brooks. She is survived by her daughter, Kathie M. Brooks (William Fulton), nieces Colleen A. Farrell, Kelly Rickey (Steve), and Susan Stanfill, nephews Jeffrey L. Farrell, Monte Stanfill (Debbie), and Derrick R. Farrell (Heather), their families, and a large number of dear friends. : 0pt Ruth was a person who was truly loved by so many. She had a kind and encouraging word for everyone, and a tender heart for animals. She was a healthy active 90-year-old with an unsinkable spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. There are no words to describe how dearly she will be missed by all of us! : Fly on, Sweet Spirit....you will be in our hearts and minds always and forever!
