Ruth P. Morris

Ruth P. Morris, 94, of Aiken, S.C. passed away peacefully in her sleep at 9:35 p.m. November 7, 2015with her loving daughter Anne M. Bleeker at her side. At the time of her passing she lived at Brookdale Alderwood in Lynnwood, Washington close to her daughter and her family. She and her devoted husband of 55 years, James (Bill) William Morris, lived in Aiken for 49 years where they raised their family followed by several years in Greenwood, S.C. She courageously battled a long-term illness before her final journey to be with our Lord on November 7, 2015. Ruth was born October 16, 1921 and grew up in Morton, Texas where she was valedictorian of her high school class. She was the daughter of Lucian L. Price and Lucy Estelle Riley Pricey. Ruth graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. After graduation, she worked in several technical positions to support the WWII effort, and in the late 1940s met Bill while both were living in Wilmington, DE. After their wedding and what they always described as a glorious honeymoon in Mexico, they moved to Indiana for several years where first son James L. Morris was born. They then moved to Aiken, where Hugh and Anne were born. Aiken was always home to the family. Ruth was devoted to her husband of 55 years until his passing in 2005, and was a loving mother to her three children. Ruth and Bill cherished their time together but often expressed the joy they felt in raising their three children. Ruth is survived by her sons James L. Morris of Newport Beach, CA, Hugh B. Morris of Winter Park, FL, daughter Anne M. Bleeker of Snohomish, WA, and four grandchildren Alexandra, Belinda, Angela, and Jay. A private memorial service will be held at a date to be determined at First Presbyterian Church in Aiken, SC. The family wishes to express their gratitude and thanks to Wesley Commons and Brookdale Alderwood for the many years of exemplary care and kindness they provided to Ruth.
