Shirley Johnson Abrahamson

Our mother, Shirley J. Abrahamson, passed away the evening of September 20, 2016 (5 days after her 93rd birthday) surrounded by her family. Our mom was the child of immigrant parents and always proud of her Norwegian ancestry (even though her father was a Swede!). At the age of 17 mom went out on her own, moving to Boulder Colorado where she remained until the end of WWII. She returned home to Ballard where she met our dad, Jon W. R. Abrahamson and they married in 1948. Mom loved numbers, gardening and her family. She reminded us that we were her rare and precious jewels, a statement well known to all who grew up under her watchful eye. Mom was preceded in death by our sister Valerie and our father Jon, both in the spring of 2000. She leaves behind her children: Jon (Teresa), Sandy (Lars), Scott (Cindy), Mark (Melinda); grandchildren: Alexander, Andrew, Benjamin, Thomas, Charlie, Jimmy and Alison; and her first and only great grandchild born this summer, Enzo. The last years of our moms life were made better by her caregiver and companion who became her dear friend, Susan Wollet, to whom we will be forever grateful.
