Stephen Elbert Anderson

Stephen Elbert Anderson, born on November 18, 1940, in Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026, in Kenmore, Washington. He was 85 years old.

Stephen graduated from Ballard High School in the Class of 1958 and went on to build a remarkable career as an electrician. His work included contributions to the Alaska Pipeline and serving as President of IBEW Local 46 for several years. He was active in educating others and promoting the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. A dedicated member for an impressive 65 years, Stephen’s commitment to his trade and union was a defining aspect of his professional life.

In addition to his career, Stephen served his country with honor as an engine man in the United States Coast Guard in 1960 and later continued his service in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. His dedication to both his profession and his nation reflected his strong sense of responsibility and service.

Stephen was deeply involved in his community and gave generously of his time and skills. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, contributing to the construction of eight homes for families in need. He also devoted time to the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum, sharing his passion for craftsmanship and history. As a second-generation member of the Ballard Elks, Stephen carried forward a family tradition of community involvement.

Stephen is survived by his two daughters, Krista (Anderson) Michelman and Karin Anderson and son-in-law Carl Michelman. He was predeceased by his sister Joan Adams, father Elbert M. Anderson, and mother Constance C. Hagstrand.

Stephen’s life was one of dedication—to his friends, his work, his community, and his country. May those who knew him find comfort in their memories of him and inspiration in the legacy he leaves behind.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 1pm at Beck's Tribute Center, 405 5th Ave S, Edmonds, WA 98020. A Graveside Service will be held on August 21, 2026, at 11:00am at Mountain View Cemetery, 1671 NW Mountain View Rd, Silverdale, WA 98383
