Thomas A. Taylor

Dec 7, 1940 — Dec 10, 2014

Tom was born to Blanche Justine Nitka Taylor and Roger Frances Taylor in Milwaukee, WI. He attended parochial school until entering Northwestern University to study English. He put his studies on hold to serve in the US Navy as 2nd Class Petty Officer. The Navy taught him to speak Mandarin fluently and he was stationed in Taiwan. He spent several weeks in a submarine listening in on Chinese communications. In Taiwan he met Chiu, Hsu-Tzu (Susan Taylor) who he married. After an honorable discharge, Tom returned stateside with his new bride. He started a family, finished his Bachelors Degree in English from Northwestern and went to work for Kemper Insurance as a commercial underwriter. A few years later, transfixed by the beauty of the Northwest, he transferred to the Seattle area. Tom loved all his dogs, but especially Mei-Mei I and Mei-Mei II. He enjoyed reading, good food, listening to both classical music and contemporary jazz. Even though Tom and Susan eventually divorced, he enjoyed a life-long friendship with her. Tom is survived by his ex-wife Susan Taylor, his daughter Mary Taylor (Tony), his son Jeff Taylor (Kristine) and his granddaughters Jennifer, Jessika (Jacob) and Cecelia. His family is deeply saddened at his departing and he will be greatly missed.
