Vivian Ann Beukers, 80, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous fight with cancer on Friday, October 11, 2013 in Lynnwood, Washington. Vivian was born in Unga, Alaska on February 20, 1933 to Margaret Hubley-Pagano and Michael Angelo Pagano, the youngest of six children. Vivian is survived by her husband of 60 years, Herman, a son, George and wife Lauri; daughters Lavonda Beukers, Sharon Franklin and husband Dennis, and Joanne Shaker and husband Larry. Grandsons John Benoit, Paul Franklin, Douglas Franklin, and Sean White; and granddaughter Alexia Altuna and 4 great grandchildren, Katelyn, Ashley, Harmen and Anabelle. Brother Frank Pagano and sister Gladys Rosier and half-brothers and sisters August and Patrick Heitman, Sally McLaughlin, Merle Gundlach and Dodie Jones; plus numerous nieces and nephews.Vivian was raised in Kodiak where as a child she met her husband Herman. She was active not only in her childrens activities as they grew, but in the Kodiak Emblem Club, Kodiak Elks Lodge and Beta Sigma Phi, She remained active in these organizations after moving from Kodiak to Edmonds, Washington in 1988.Vivian was proud of her Alaska Native heritage. She was a member of the Sunaq Tribe of Kodiak, Koniag, Inc. Regional Corporation, and served on the Board of Directors of Natives of Kodiak, Inc. for 29 years. For more than 40 years Vivian served tirelessly and with passion on many boards and committees. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Edward, Milton and sister Shirley. 10 Visitation will be Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 2 to 5 pm with a Memorial Service on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Becks Funeral Home, 405 Fifth Ave. S, Edmonds Washington.
