Wilbur Leighton Tenge
April 2, 1924 — July 7, 2009
Our loving father and grandfather passed away suddenly on July 7, 2009 at the age of 85. Wilbur was born on April 2, 1924 in Deer Lodge, Montana, to George and Bernice (Slaughtner) Tenge. He grew up in Bremerton, Wash., where the family home was on the Manette beachfront. He proudly served in the US Army in WWII. Wilbur met Virginia Stencil in Bremerton. They were married a year later on April 10, 1948. They moved into their new home in Shoreline in 1956. There they raised their two sons, Stephen George and Bradley John, in St. Luke Catholic Parish. Preceded in death by Virginia, his loving wife of 54 years in 2002, Wilbur continued to live in their treasured home, enjoying tremendous health and tons of fun activities with the family. Wilbur was a manager for Singer Sewing. For over 3 decades, he was a salesman for West Chemical and Rochester Midland. Then for over 10 years until 2003, he enjoyed working at McBride Construction Resources as the tool room manager. Wilbur is survived by his loving family: sons, Steve and Brad (Teresa); grandchildren, Victoria, Bridget and Paul; sisters, Jewell Sollie and Carolyn ONeal; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wilbur was preceded in death by wife, Virginia and brother, Kenneth.A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 322 N. 175th St., Shoreline; Recn following also at St. Luke; with Burial at Holyrood following recn.
