Albert L. Winskye

" Albert L. Winskye, 84 of Bay Rd. passed away May 27, 2003 at the Center For Extended Care At Amherst. Born March 10, 1919, he was one of nine children born to the late Michael and Anna Winskye. Albert grew up in Whately,MA and resided in Conway, Easthampton, Maine and Florida before moving to Belchertown in May of 2002. During WWII, Albert served his countryin the United States Army. He then worked at a heavy equipment operator for Becktel, which is a construction company, for many years. Retiring in the late 70’s, Albert moved to Maine and built a house on the coast before moving to Florida. Albert loved birds and raise exotic birds while he was living in Easthampton. He was also a member of the VFW in Deland,FL. Albert was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn (Johnson) in January of 1991 after 45 years of marriage. He will be missed by his four children, Richard Winskye of Touson,AZ, John Winskye of Sheyenne, North Dakota, Jean Cumings of Deerfield,NH, and Anne Torrey of Belchertown. Albert also leaves a sister Elizabeth Johnson of Windsor,CT, a brother Walter Winskye of Easthampton and another sister Irene Balise of New Port Richey,FL as well as six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6-8:00 p.m. The family has asked that donations be made in Albert’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 2873, Springfield,MA 01101-2873 "
