"South Hadley-Ali R. Kavlak passed away at his home in South Hadley, MA on August 20, 2019. Born in 1930 and educated in Istanbul, Turkey, he came to the United States in 1952 to attend Madison College in Tennessee earning a BS Degree in 1954, an MS Degree in 1957 and a Specialist in Education Degree in 1959, both from George Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee. He taught chemistry at Chicopee High School for 23 years, retiring in 1985. In 1971, he became a Real Estate Broker, operating his own brokerage company, Western Mass Realty, later forming Kavlak Appraisal Company in South Hadley, MA. Ali is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cagla Kavlak, his sons Erol and Murat Kavlak, his daughter Miné Kavlak and her fiancé Dario Mercadante, his brother-in law Cuneyt Oge and wife Margo Oge, several nieces, nephews and in-laws here in the US and Turkey. Funeral services will be held at Beers & Story Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., South Hadley, MA on Wednesday August 21st after 12pm prayers with burial following immediately after at Evergreen Cemetery, 29 Hadley Street, South Hadley.The family wishes to express their gratitude to Beacon Hospice in West Springfield, to the many caregivers of Home Watch in West Springfield, and particularly to his devoted caregiver for nearly three years, Angelee Gryszan, for her kindness to Ali. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Ali’s name be made to the Dementia and Alzheimer’s Association."
