Anne E. Alminas

"E. Longmeadow, Anne (Bonney) Alminas, 95, of Bluebird Estates, former longtime resident of 16 Acres and Pine Valley Plantation, Belchertown, died peacefully Thursday, April 20, 2017 in Palmer. Born in Brooklyn, NY, October 16, 1921, she was the daughter of Anne (Riccio) and Edward Bonney. She served in the US Navy during WWII in Washington, DC. After her military service, Anne attended Boston University on the GI Bill, where she also met her future husband. She received her Bachelor's degree from Boston University, and later worked as an ESL teacher in Springfield. In her leisure she was an accomplished cellist, who had the honor of playing with the Springfield Symphony and later in the Holyoke Symphony. Anne was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots; while also enjoying playing golf and painting in her spare time. In her retirement years, she enjoyed spending time with her husband on Cape Cod in Eastham. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Alphonse in 1995. She will be deeply missed by her 2 sons, Alan and his wife Carol of E. Longmeadow, and Roy and Kathy of Stoneham. She also leaves 3 precious grandchildren, Steve and his wife Erika, who are expecting a great-grandchild in the summer; Pete and his girlfriend Mary Kate; and her granddaughter Shelly. Her cat Amy, her faithful companion, will also miss her. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 23rd from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St, (Rte20).
