Anthony Dimitropolis

"Palmer-Anthony C. "the Greek" Dimitropolis, 77, passed away December 25, 2018 at his son's home with his family by his side. Born May 13, 1941, in Adams, MA, he was the son of Charles and Felicia (Grandi) Dimitropolis. Anthony has lived in Palmer since 1972, previously residing in Indian Orchard. From 1958-1962, he served his country in the US Navy. For over 40 years, Anthony worked as a steamfitter for the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union local 104 in Chicopee. He was a proud member of the Union since 1966 and served on numerous committees throughout the years. As a devote catholic, he was a member of St. Thomas Church. He also was a member of the Thorndike Water Dept and served on the Casino for Palmer project, as he did enjoy going to the casino and gambling. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being involved with town politics. However, family was most important to Anthony and he long be remembered. He leaves his dear wife, Carolyn A. (Szczepanik) along with their children, Kevin C. and his wife Melody of Hampden, Debra A. Gondek of Palmer, Brenda J. Kruse and her husband Brian of Belchertown and Randy J. and his wife Marie of Belchertown as well as 10 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, 3 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. Anthony's siblings, George, Stephen, Peter, Elizabeth, Shirley, Anna and Rosie will also treasure his memory. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Nicky. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-4:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. On Monday, friends and family may gather at the funeral home around 10:00 a.m. to form a procession to St. Thomas Church for 11:00 a.m. Mass. Burial and military honors will follow at the MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam at 1:00 p.m. Per Anthony's request, donations may be made to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project."
