Bruce Edwards

" Bruce R. Edwards 58, died March 25 at home. Born in Springfield, March 31,1944, he was the son of Lorraine (Harpin) Edwards of Palmer and the late Wallace Edwards. Bruce grew up in Springfield and was a graduate of Springfield Technical High School. He served aboard the USS Jack while serving with the Navy during the Vietnam War. Bruce moved to Palmer in 1972 and spent his working career as a commercial grade landscaper and logger in the area. He was a member of Local 98 of Operating Engineers. He was a former Deacon and Pilgrim Fellowship Advisor at the Second Congregational Church and served on various boards of the church. Besides his mother, Bruce is survived by his wife of 36 years, Vicki (Martin) Edwards, 3 daughters, Hillary Massey of Braintree, Jennifer Edwards of Littleton, CO, and Michelle Burns of Ware. He also leaves a sister Pamela Sanderson of Belchertown and a grandson David. A memorial service will be Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Paul’s Universalist Unitarian Church in Palmer. Calling hours are Saturday afternoon from 2:00—5:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. The family requests that flowers be omitted and to please make donations in his memory to either Palmer Public Library Building Fund, 1455 N. Main St, the American Red Cross, 3500 Main Street, Springfield, or to the Arthritis Foundation , 29 Crafts Ave, Newton, 02458. "
