Carol Edith Hubbard

Carol Edith (Hill) Hubbard, age 85 passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025. Born in Ware on July 31,1939, she was the daughter of the late Nelson J. and Harriet U. (Banford) Hill, and was a lifelong resident of Belchertown.

 She graduated from Belchertown High School in 1957, and shortly thereafter began work for the Town of Belchertown as the first secretary at the new Cold Springs School, leaving in 1961 to raise her family. She returned to work again for the town in 1972 in the Clerk-Treasurers-Collectors Office, retiring in 2001, as the Assistant Town Clerk. She was honored as “Employee of the Year” in 1990. 

She also served as Assistant Clerk Treasurer of the Belchertown Water District from 1989-1994, becoming the Clerk Treasurer in 1994, retiring in 2001.

 Carol was a member and former Deacon of the Congregational church and sang in it’s choir for many years.

 The family has many fond memories of vacations when they were young at Hampton Beach and camping at Salisbury Beach. In later years, Carol and her husband, Hugh (Johnny) K. Hubbard Jr enjoyed bus tours and trips in their camper. An annual Florida visit was looked forward to for several winters. 

Hugh, her husband of 55 years died in December 2013. Carol leaves four sons: Jeffrey K. and wife Lia of Bernardston, Christopher A. and wife Emilie of Ledyard, CT, Todd E. and partner Sandi of Belchertown, and Brian R. and wife Heather of Belchertown, along with her nine precious grandchildren: Jeffrey and partner Amanda, Joseph, Amy, Kaitlin and husband Mike, Brooke, Julia, Nicole, Amber and husband Andrew, and Tyler and wife Callie, along with three precious great grandchildren: Riley, Hayden, and Vivian.

Carol is predeceased by her brother Raymond and wife Jennie Jo Hill of Lexington NC. 

All services and burial will be private at the family's request and Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospital 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
