Carole E. Cumps

"Chicopee-Carole E. Cumps, 66, of New Ludlow Rd. passed away peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side on March 27, 2009 at Wingate at South Hadley. Born August 13, 1942 in Cranston, RI, she was the daughter of the late George T. and Ethel V. (Garvin) Mulvaney. Carole has lived in Chicopee since 2002, previously residing in Amherst. In 2002, she retired after many years of employment as the Deputy Director of International Programs at Umass Amherst. Carole went beyond her employment to motherly assist all of her international students. She helped them above and beyond their academics to ensure their welcome and comfort while they were away from home. Carole was an avid reader and loved college basketball. She was a devoted mother to Jennifer Medina and her husband Jose of S.Hadley, Erika Cumps of Chicopee, and adopted daughter Sussan Noushzadi of Oakton, VA along with her loving grandchildren Liam and Marley Medina. Carole also leaves her brother George Mulvaney of E.Greenwich, RI along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her sister Marjorie Mulvaney. All services will be privately held at the convenience of the family and Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
