"Palmer, Chester W. Pikul, 86, of Flynt St., died Monday, March 26 at Wingate Nursing Home. Born in Palmer, April 24, 1925, he was the son of John and Bronislawa (Wegiel) Pikul. A lifelong resident, he graduated from Palmer schools and was a communicant of Divine Mercy Parish. Chester was a member of the St. Joseph's Society. He proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 130. During his career, he worked as a mechanic for 30 years at Baystate Gas before retiring. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Julia (Barszcz) Pikul, a daughter, Diane M. Pikul of Palmer, and a son Thomas Pikul (wife, Diane Lontrato) Pikul of Suffolk, VA. He also leaves a sister Julia Lord of Standish, Maine, and a brother Felix of FL, along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, 5 brothers, Anthony, Martin, Edward, Clarence and George preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 31 at 9:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home followed by a liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 in Divine Mercy Church. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to Divine Mercy Parish, 2267 Main St, Three Rivers, 01080, or Wing VNA & Hospice, 42B Wright St, Palmer. "
