Christine Buchman

"Christine (Halvorsen) Buchman. 84, of Park St, died peacefully on Sunday, January 19. Born in Palmer, January 23, 1929, she was the daughter of Oscar and Gladys (Lane) Halvorsen and was a lifelong resident. She previously worked for New England Telephone in Palmer and also drove school bus for many years for Palmer Motor Coach. As a lifelong member of the Second Congregational Church, she served the church in many ways over the years, including serving on the Women's Fellowship as well as a Sunday School Teacher. Chris was also a 30 year member of the Palmer Lions Club and belonged to the Ya-Ya Sisters Red Hat Society, and participated in many Senior Center activities. She was never without her camera and has chronicled many events over the years. She also enjoyed painting. Her husband Ellsworth A. Buchman died in 1978. She will be deeply missed by her children, Nancy (Buchman) Cordeiro and husband Carlos, and Dean Buchman and his wife Martina all of Palmer. She also leaves her precious grandchildren, Chelsea Taylor, Manda-Leigh Buchman, Sarah Tobias and her husband Jared, Caroline Buchman and Justin Cordeiro. Additionally, a brother Roger Halvorsen of CA, nieces and nephew Greta Reeves, Astrid Silwar and Lee Halvorsen survive her. She will also be missed by dear friends, especially Geraldine Molleur and Janet Phillips. Besides her parents and husband, a brother Raymond predeceased her. Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 22 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the church.
