Clarence "Doug" Miles

"Chicopee-Clarence "Doug" Miles, 89, passed away October 23, 2015 at the Soldier's Home in Holyoke. Born December 28, 1925, he was the son of Clarence T. and Annie (Alexander) Miles. Doug has been a life long resident of Chicopee and proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII and Korea. He was a Mason and member of the Mt Tom Lodge and took much enjoyment volunteering for the Red Cross. He also had his pilot's license and was proud to be the owner of his 1947 Indian motorcycle. Doug was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church on Montcalm St in Chicopee and an active choir member. He was predeceased by his wife in 2009, Claire (Lempke) and will be missed by his nephew Bruce Eyler of Chicopee, nephew Ernest Lempke of FL and his wife Betty He also leaves his great nieces Linda Barden of Agawam, Cathy Could of NC, great nephews, Ron and Ernie Lempke and great grand nephew William Noll. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his siblings William T. Miles, Annie Eyler and nieces Joanne C. Barden and Patricia J. Loncrini. A gathering to process for his "last ride" will be Friday, Oct 30th at 12:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home with military honors rendered at 1:00 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
