Deanna O. Flynn

"Granby, Deanna Olive Flynn, 73, was called into God's loving care on Monday, November 15 at Holyoke Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Haverhill, Ma on February 5, 1937, she is the daughter of Edmund and the late Olive (Pratt) Champagne. She lived in Chicopee for many years before moving to Granby in 1974. She was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church where she served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. While in Chicopee, she served on the Chicopee PTA, Chicopee Falls Women's' Club and the Building Committee for the John J. Stefanik School. In Granby, she served on the School Committee for 9 years, serving as the 1st female Chairperson. She also served on the Zoning Board of Appeals. Deanna owned and operated Oak Hill Dog Shop for fifteen years and she raised show quality Miniature Schnauzers and Doberman Pinschers. As President of the Springfield Kennel Club, she chaired numerous dog shows and dog sporting events at the Eastern States Exposition. She worked for the Federal Government for the past 17 years, retiring in August 2010 from the Dept. of Agriculture. Deanna loved her vacations on Cape Cod and enjoying the quiet solitude of her beautiful yard. She will be deeply missed by her two sons, Christopher and his wife Patricia of Chicopee, Jeffrey and his wife Lisa of Stafford Springs, Ct, her father Edmund of Chicopee along with her two grandchildren, Scott and her "tootsie-too", Morgan. Her sister Sandra Schuback and her husband Bud of Chicopee and her nieces Kimberlee Brennan and Kelly Assarian along with her Aunt Mary Davitt of Texas also survive her. Besides her mother, her sister Candace Robinson also predeceased her. Funeral services will be on Friday, November 19 at 9:00 a.m. from the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home (646 Newton St.) followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
