Dominick J. Machnik

"Palmer, Dominick J. Machnik, 90, of the Three Rivers section of Palmer, entered eternal life on Thursday, November 4. Born in Ware, December 1, 1919, he was the son of Stanley and Stephanie (Mazurek) Machnik. Dominick grew up in Ware, later moving to Three Rivers where he and his late wife, Julia, owned and operated the former Dominick’s Restaurant. A landmark on the Main Street, the couple owned the business for 50 years, retiring in 1997. He was a communicant of Divine Mercy (formerly Sts. Peter & Paul Church). A proud Veteran, Dominick received a Purple Heart during WWII, while serving as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He continued his service as a member of the Marine Corps League Detachment #140 in Ware, along with being a member of the AMVETS Post 74 in Three Rivers. Civically, Dominick was involved in the Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce, the St. Stanislaus Society, St. Mary’s Drum Corps, and was a Corporator of Monson Savings Bank. Besides his parents, his wife Julia (Rodowicz) (2008), and brother Edward (2007) preceded him in death. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Lisa Godek and her husband Thomas, of Ludlow, 2 grandchildren, Emily and Stephen, along with siblings, Veronica Goodreau of Ludlow, John Machnik and Fredericka Roszko of Three Rivers, Irene Baronas of S. Deerfield and James Machnik of Wales. Additionally, numerous family members survive him. Services will be Tuesday, November 9 beginning from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St, (Rte. 20) at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Divine Mercy Church at 10:00 a.m. Calling hours will be Monday, November 8 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Anne Cemetery. Honoring Dominick’s generosity to many worthy organizations during his life, the family requests that for those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to either Divine Mercy Church Parish Fund, 2267 Main St., Three Rivers, 01080 or to a charity of one’s choice. “Semper Fidelis” "
