"Doris (Binns) Mullen, 105, formerly of Fletcher St., passed away August 6, 2006 at Wingate at Wilbraham. Born March 1, 1901, in Bradford, England, she was the daughter of the late Eli and Mary Agnes (Beck) Binns. Doris came to New England as a young girl and settled in Palmer in 1939. She was the oldest member of the Second Congregational Church (53 years) and had also been a member of the Lamplighters and Women’s Fellowship at the church. Doris was a kind and courageous woman, who lived on her own until she was 99. Doris was talented at knitting, crocheting, tatting and baking, hobbies that she used to produce many gifts for her family. Doris was predeceased by her husband Samuel J. in 1967 and is survived by two daughters-in-law, Terry Mullen of Palmer and Ruth Mullen of Arkansas as well as her former son-in-law Bing Miller of PA, eight grandchildren and twenty- seven great grandchildren. Besides her husband and parents, Doris was predeceased by her children, Janet Miller in 1985, Kenneth in 2001, Robert in 2005 and her granddaughter, Teri Miller in 2004. Funeral services will be held Saturday August 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home followed by burial in Four Corners Cemetery. A visitation will be Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. At the family’s request, please make donations Doris’s memory to either the Second Congregational Church, 1080 Pleasant St., or the Palmer Library Bookmobile, 1485 N. Main St., Palmer, 0106"
