"Hampden, Doris G. (Kohl) (Rogers) Simonds, 71, died peacefully with her loving family by her side on Saturday, February 11 at Wingate at Hampden. Born on July 27, 1940 in Mannheim, Germany, she was the daughter of Josef and Helene (Neumann) Kohl. She moved to the United States when her beloved husband, Paul T. Rogers, died in Germany while serving in the US Army. She lived in Palmer and Sturbridge for many years before moving to Hampden in 2010. Doris worked as Registered Nurse for Mary Lane hospital for 20 years. She enjoyed her family, cats and time with friends. She will be deeply missed by her two sons, Thomas and his wife Cynthia of Vestal, NY and Anthony and his wife Pamela of Hampden along with her five grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Andrew, Kara, Meaghan and Colin and her great grandson, Mason. Her two sisters-in-law, June Henrich and Elva Tetreault both of Ware and her brother-in-law Ralph Rogers of AZ also survive her. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Wingate and Beacon Hospice for the extraordinary care they provided to Doris. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 North Main St. Burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery. A calling hour from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. will precede the service.
