Ethel H. Hawkins

"Ethel H. (Miller) Hawkins, 88, of Ware Rd., passed away February 7 at her home. Born August 15, 1917 in Palmer, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Helen (Walz) Miller. Ethel has lived in Belchertown for 60 years, previously residing in Springfield. She was a longtime member of Dwight Chapel, the Belchertown Grange, and Garden Club. Ethel enjoyed slate painting, ceramics, making Christmas decorations, and sharing her time during town elections at the polls. She was a loving mother who taught us of a loving God and those were passed onto her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her faith was her strength until her last day. She leaves her son Byron and his wife Janice of Winter Haven, FL, along with three grandsons Robert, Darren, Anthony, great grandchildren Lisa, Courtney, and Samuel. A sister Dorothy Jensen, nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive her. Ethel was predeceased by her husband Kenneth B. in 1968 and her son Richard in 2003. A graveside service will be held Friday, February 17th at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Palmer. "
