Eugene A. Dranka

"Palmer-Eugene A. Dranka, 80, of Main St. in the Thorndike section of Palmer, passed away November 15, 2010 at Umass Medical Center in Worcester. Born in Palmer on February 18, 1930, he was the son of the late Andrew and Catherine (Szelega) Dranka. Graduating from Palmer High School in 1947, he went on to Umass-Amherst and then to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force. Eugene has lived all of his life in Palmer and retired from DEQE, the former MA Department of Public Health, where he worked as a sanitarian. He was a former president of the MA Environmental Health Assoc. and member of St. Joseph's Club. Eugene was a communicant of Divine Mercy Church and loved listening to classical music. He will be greatly missed by his nieces Mary Ann Quinn and her husband Ray of Glastonbury, CT, Susan Scott and her husband Jim of Belchertown along with great niece Mary Alice Quinn and her husband Tom Romer and their daughter Lulu of Beacon, NY. Eugene was predeceased by his sisters Mary Salamon, Frances Godek, and Emily Sinkoski. A calling hour will be held Friday Nov. 19th from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home with funeral Mass at Divine Mercy at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held privately at St. Anne's Cemetery.
