Gertrude E. Macdonald

"Holyoke - Gertrude E. Macdonald, 88, died on February 4, 2014 at the Holyoke Healthcare Center. She was born February 13, 1925 in Easthampton, MA, daughter of the late George and Ethel (Brieley) Delaney. She began her nurses aide career at Holyoke Soldiers' Home and retired from Holyoke Nursing Home, after working in the field for 45 years. While employed Gertrude was very active in the UFCW, serving as chief steward. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Holyoke. Gertrude enjoyed making crafts and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, Michael Macdonald of Springfield, James Macdonald of NY and Mark Macdonald of Belchertown and a daughter, Frances Nepus and husband Paris of Springfield. In addition to her children, Gertrude is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Frank Macdonald, Giana Macdonald, Kari Avery and husband Kyle, Sara Nepus, Angus Macdonald, Ameni Wilson, Bryanne Macdonald and Eric Macdonald. Gertrude also leaves her great-grandchildren, Alexander and Rachel Avery and her nephew Bobby Worden and his wife Marie. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Macdonald, sister, Edna Worden, brother, George Delaney, grandson, Patrick Nepus, and daughter-in-law, Miyoshi Macdonald. All services will take place at the convenience of the family. Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. "
