Gilbert F. Marshall

" Belchertown – Gilbert F. Marshall, 88, of State St., died March 16, 2006 in Wingate at South Hadley. Born in Springfield, MA on Dec. 18, 1917 he was the son of the late Frank and Gertrude (Hanson)Marshall. Gilbert was raised and educated in Springfield and has lived in Belchertown since 1949. He worked for over 30 years for the Commonwealth at Monson Developmental Center and the Belchertown State School as a stationary engineer. Mr. Marshall was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and a Mason at the Vernon Lodge for over 60 years. In his leisure, he enjoyed traveling with his wife to Europe, Hawaii and Japan; they also spent many winters in Florida. He is survived by his wife Hazel (Pratt) Marshall. He leaves three children Robert Marshall of Berwyn, PA, Barbara Castro of Tampa, FL and Betty Marshall of Belchertown. Seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren will also miss him. A Funeral Service will be Monday at 12:00pm at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, followed by burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Belchertown Senior Center, 60 State St. or to Hope United Methodist Church, Main St., Belchertown, MA 01007. "
