"Palmer - Helen October Joyal, 90, of Thompson St. went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2009 from Wingate at Wilbraham. She was born February 13, 1919 in Maynard, MA, daughter of the late John and Adele (Lissay) Boyko. Growing up in Maynard, she graduated from Maynard High School in 1937 and lived all of her life in the town. She relocated to Palmer with her daughter in November of 2008. Helen worked for many years as an administrative secretary for Raytheon Manufacturing before her retirement and previously worked as a secretary in the legal department for New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad. Being an avid Patriots fan, Helen faithfully watched every game and knew everything about her favorite team. Surviving are daughter, Paula Matukaitis and her partner Randolph Torres of Palmer, MA, daughter, Elaine Barnard of Albuquerque, NM, grandchildren, Paul Matukaitis and John Matukaitis of Palmer, Scott Barnard and his wife Rita, and Sandra Barnard-Sanchez and her husband Anthony of Albuquerque. She also leaves two great grandchildren Victoria and Jared Barnard in addition to her nephews, Dr. Eugene LaLancette and his wife Ruth of Fitchburg, and Attny Robert LaLancette and his wife Cathy of Ashburnham. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her baby brother, John. Services will be held at at Fowler Kennedy Funeral Home in Maynard Saturday April 4th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be privately held in Glenwood Cemetery in Maynard, MA. Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home is assisting the family with local arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. "
