Belchertown-Joan Mary (Adams) Hennessey, a longtime resident of Belchertown, passed away February 27, 2026 with her loving family by her side. She was born in June of 1937 in Chicopee MA and attended Chicopee schools until her junior year. She met and married Patrick "George" Hennessey in 1953 and they began their life together. In 1971, while working nights and at the age of 34, she attended Belchertown High School with her two sons, Mark and Steve. In 1972, she graduated in the same class as Mark and she proudly achieved her high school diploma. For 30 years she worked at the former Belchertown State School as an attendant. Besides her parents Raymond and Stella Adams, Joan is predeceased by her husband, Patrick "George" as well as her siblings, Gordan, Robert and Stewart Adams. Her love will forever remain with her two sons, Mark G. Hennessey and his wife, Joan of Arizona and Steven W. Hennessey and his wife, Marie of Belchertown. Joan's grandchildren, Scott P. Hennessey and wife, Laurna of Georgia, Adam M. Hennessey and wife, Jessica of Belchertown, Stacy Nadeau and husband, Tim of Longmeadow as well as great grandchildren, Shane P. Hennessey and wife, Shannon of Georgia, Connor Nadeau, Zachary Nadeau, Carson Hennessey and great great grandsons Carter, Liam, and Nolan Hennessey will also carry her memory close to their hearts. In her leisure, Joan enjoyed playing cards with her friends from the Senior Center and Pine Valley Plantation. She also enjoyed scrabble and dancing to Elvis songs. Joan loved life with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all but she will always be in their hearts.
