John E. Glover

"Palmer, John E. Glover, 88, of Beacon Dr. died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 with family by his side. Born in Pelham, August 11, 1922, he was the son of Charles and Frances (Callahan) Glover and lived for many years in Vermont and Springfield. He has lived in Palmer since 1984. A veteran of WWII, he served in the Army Air Corps. He worked for Stanley Tools for many years before retiring. He had previously worked for Sears in W. Springfield. He also served as a former President of United Upholsters Union and served on the negotiations committee following his presidency. He also owned and operated the Swiss Village Motor Court in Bennington, VT for many years. Besides his parents, his wife Shirley (Reed) preceded him in death in 1998. He will be deeply missed by his 3 daughters, Mary Glover of Quincy, Jennifer Kerr and her husband Robert of Feeding Hills and Mary Briggs of E. Longmeadow, along with 5 grandchildren, A.J. and Brady Kerr and Michael, James and Colin Briggs along with many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his four siblings, Chester, Charles, Frances Foley and Kathryn Baribault along with his son in law, Terry Siegfried. A Memorial Mass will be on Saturday, June 18 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Parker St., Springfield, followed by burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
