Jose Guadalupe Garcia

"Springfield - Jose Guadalupe Garcia, 89, most recently of Charlton, MA passed away peacefully with his beloved granddaughter, Amber, by his side on August 26, 2016 at Wingate of Hampden. Born August 6, 1927 in Mercedes, TX, he was the son of Jose and Teresa (Tudon) Garcia. He is predeceased in 2012 by his loving wife, Virginia (Trudeau) Garcia and in 1980 by his beloved son, Jose Garcia, and in 1990 by his beloved grandson Shawn Andrews. He proudly served his country in The United States Army as a sergeant in the military police. For many years, Guadalupe was a meat -cutter for the Jumbo Supermarket and he most recently retired as a meat-cutter for the Student Prince Restaurant. He was a long time resident of Springfield and formerly of Blandford, MA. He was an avid reader of history and religion, a harmonica player who entertained his children and grandchildren, he also loved working in his garden where he cultivated Rose of Sharon for many years. He was a devoted Lionel train collector who owned an extensive collection, which he enjoyed thoroughly. Most importantly, he led a life devoted to his faith, family, and hard work. He loved the Lord, his wife, children, and grandchildren with all of his heart, and his occupation; which he was taught by his own father so many years ago in the little village of Mission, Texas. He will be dearly missed by the true legacy he leaves behind, which is his 14 children; Darlene Burns of Cocoa, FL, Jamie Matulewicz and her husband Dennis of East Longmeadow, Toni Seguin of Cocoa, FL, Luis Mario Garcia of Monson, Leilani Gaulin and her husband Kevin of Palmer, MA, Timothy Garcia and his wife Diana of Westfield, Nanette Thompson of Hampden, Sherrie Rovelli and her husband Richard of Springfield, Faith Corbin and her late husband Raymond of Charleroi, PA, Rosalie Seguin and her late husband Peter of Charlton, Melodie Trudeau of Springfield, Christopher Garcia and his wife Sharon of Lebanon, PA, Angelyn Noel and her husband Thomas of Hampden; along with 28 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He also leaves his siblings, Celia Guerra, Roberto Garcia, Teresa Garcia, and Reynaldo Garcia all of Mission, TX. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug 31st from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St, (Rte.20). A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at. Anne's Shrine, 16 Church St., Fiskdale (Sturbridge). Kindly meet directly at St. Anne's Shrine for the Funeral Mass. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery in Palmer.
