Kathy M. Vigneux

"Bondsville, Kathy M. (Majka) Vigneux, 56, was called safely home on November 17, 2010 after a 29 month determined and courageous battle against breast cancer. She was born in Palmer, August 22 1954 to John and Mary (Guzik) Majka. A graduate of local schools, she also attended Holyoke Community College. Kathy worked hand in hand with her husband Bill at their dental practice in Three Rivers for over 25 years and in doing so, touched the lives of many people who are proud to call her a true friend. An avid fisherwoman, she spent many hours on the local waters with her late uncle Al Murray, Sr. and with her neighbor and fishing buddy, David Bousquet of Bondsville. She was an avid Red Sox fan with Bill and also enjoyed playing slot machines. Kathy was an active participant with The Rays of Hope and Relay for Life in Springfield. During her battle with cancer, she met and inspired many people, both patients and staff at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham & Women's Hospital, Cooley Dickinson Hospital and Kindred Parkview Rehab Hospital and the Cancer Connection in Florence. She fought fiercely and tirelessly against the cancer which finally claimed her life but not her spirit. Thanks to the expert care and round the clock efforts and devotion of Dr. Craig Bunnell and the wonderful caring staff at Dana she was able to spend over two years living and enjoying a quality life with her husband while fighting this awful disease. She and Bill will be forever grateful and devoted to Dr. Bunnell and all of the wonderful people at Dana Farber. From their care and compassion, she was able to flourish in the time she was given. She will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted husband and soul mate, Bill (William J. Vigneux, DMD), with whom she spent 19 wonderful years marriage, during which they enjoyed life together immensely and travelled extensively. She also leaves her loving stepson Michael Vigneux and his wife Michelle, their son Landon whom she adored, all of Worcester. She also leaves Bill's other son Stephen and his family of E. Longmeadow. Additionally she leaves her cherished friend Carol Seaver who was like a sister to her. Through many years together at work and in travelling many different roads together their love will always be most special. She will be greatly missed by her cousin and dear friend Joyce Murray of Three Rivers, with whom she shared many good times and beautiful memories over the years. She also leaves her very special friends, Rosemary Courtney, Sylvia Dinuovo, Pam Rose, Maureen Canata, Sue MacDougall, Leah Bigda, Melissa Sizer-Knuerr and Liissa Carroll. Also her two beloved cats Rainbow and Sunshine, to whom she lovingly referred to as Snotty and Hissy, along with many loving aunts, cousins and relatives and friends also survive her. Kathy loved you all. Calling hours will be Sunday, November 21 at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Friends may gather Monday, November 22 by 9:00 a.m.at the funeral home to procede to a liturgy of Christian burial which will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Divine Mercy Church. Burial will follow in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
