Larry S. Akers

"Larry Akers, 64 years old passed away peacefully at his home in East Longmeadow MA. Dec. 30, 2014 after a period of poor health. Larry was born in Springfield MA June 21, 1950 to the late Claude R. Akers & Marion I. (Locke) Akers. Larry resided in a group home in East Longmeadow for mentally retarded adults where he received the best of care possible and the family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the love, support, and special care Larry received. Larry was a very sweet & happy man & thoroughly enjoyed "a cup of coffee," listening to Christmas music, oldies & Elvis Presley songs. In previous years Larry enjoyed attending numerous community events & outings with his care takers including trips to the civic center, the Eastern States Exposition, trips to the mall, a special memorable trip to Disney World and attending church regularly. Larry was predeceased by a sister, Donna Everitt of Barrington R.I. He is survived by four siblings, his brother, Richard Akers of Phoenix Arizona, his twin sister, Susan Stratton of Corinna ME, his sister Norma Patrie of Palmer MA and his sister Marilyn Davis of Washington ME. Calling hours will be held at the Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home on January 31, 2015 from 1:00-3:00 pm. Internment will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local MSPCA."
