Laval G. Gagnon

"Chicopee-Laval G. Gagnon, 84, of Felix St., passed away November 6, 2010 at Redstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born October 16, 1926 in Weedon, Canada, he was the son of the late Felix and Eva (Galipeau) Gagnon. Laval lived in the Willimansett section of Chicopee for over 35 years where he and his wife raised 4 children, and retired in 1990 after 25 years of employment from Nonotuck Wire in South Hadley. Laval and Theresa were members of the Nativity Parish Choir. He was also a former member of the Moose Lodge 1849 Choral Group in Chicopee. In 1985, the couple moved to Pine Valley Plantation in Belchertown and were active communicants and members of the choir of St. Francis Parish. Laval also was a member of the Knights of Columbus. For the past 4 years, Laval and Theresa have resided in the Aldenville section of Chicopee and were communicants of St. Rose de Lima Parish. Laval was predeceased by his wife Theresa D. (Thibeault) August 10, 2010. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a son Robert in 2006 and siblings, Ronald, Martha, Suzanne, and Roger. He will be greatly missed by his children Denis and his wife Nancy of Wilbraham, Marie Gower of Aldenville, and Steven of Chicopee, as well as 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He also leaves sisters Claire Campbell of Easthampton and Monique Ouellette of Belchertown. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 10th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church.
