Leopold H. Jodoin

"Chicopee - Leopold H. Jodoin, 90, passed peacefully away with his family at his side on March 1, 2012 in Renaissance Manor. He was born September 20, 1921 in Chicopee, son of the Emile and Eva (Beauchman) Jodoin. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Force during WWII. When Leopold's plane went down in Sweden during the war, Lee met the love of his life, Harriet, while he was serving as an intern in the American Embassy in Stockholm. While serving, he received high accolades for his work in repairing downed aircraft. Leopold retired after working for 30 years as an engineer for Holyoke Gas & Electric Co. He was a communicant of St. Anne Church and enjoyed spending time with family and doing handy work. He will always be remembered for his beautiful smile, kind heart and willingness to help others. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Harriet (Agrell) Jodoin and two children, Lawrence Jodoin and his companion, Debbie Grandchamp of Holyoke and Christina Kennedy and her husband Michael of E.Longmeadow. He also leaves two sisters Aline Bernier of Clearwater, Fl and Theresa Authier and husband Edward of Aldenville, three grandchildren Laura Mae, Laura Sue and Lee and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four siblings Emile, Lionel, Noel and Evette Jodoin. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 9:45 a.m to follow to a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anne's Church. Interment will follow with military honors at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery on Main St. in Agawam at 1:00 p.m Calling hours will be Monday, March 05, 2012 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home.
