"South Hadley - Linda (Williams) Magruder Butler, 83, of Loomis Village, passed away on September 8, 2016. Linda was born June 8, 1933 in Rochester, NY, daughter of Roger P. and H. Caroline (Comstock) Williams. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing tennis and field hockey and she attended Connecticut College for Women. A resident of S. Hadley for more than 50 years she was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church. Linda enjoyed volunteer work for many organizations, such as Hospice, JR League, Bargain Box, and Dow Janes. She was an avid bridge player as well. She and her husband Paul were the proprietors of "Magruder's" on the Green clothing store. She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Paul T. Magruder. She was fortunate to fall in love and marry Donald Butler, who also preceded her in death. She will be deeply missed by her three children, Thomas W. Magruder and wife Nancy of Rochester, NH, Ann S. Judge and husband Ben, and Kate Friel and husband Jim all of S. Hadley. She will also be heart fully and deeply missed by her very special and dear grandchildren; Samuel Magruder, Thomas and Caroline Judge and Jeremy Friel and his wife Catie. The family wishes to express gratitude to Dr. Krulewitz and his medical staff, Dr. Walter Wolf, Porch Light VNA Services and her special and longtime caregiver Kathy Solano for all of their care and support to Linda. At Linda's request all services are private and Beers & Story Hadley Funeral Home, was entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Hadley Council On Aging, 45 Dayton St., S. Hadley, MA 01075. "
