Margaret A. Hulmes

"Belchertown- Margaret A. Hulmes, 70, of Belchertown passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, NY on December 28, 1943, daughter of the late Lt. Col. William and Mildred (Murphy) McCarthy. On February 10, 1962, she married Jack Hulmes, Jr. She and Jack lived in Concord, NH and in Boston before moving back to Belchertown. Shortly after returning to Belchertown, together they formed and operated Hulmes Transportation Services, Ltd. The company currently operates with offices in Belchertown, Chicopee, West Springfield and Greenfield. Peg was a devoted and loving mother to their three daughters, Melinda and husband Joseph Helfrich, Jill and husband Constantino Ricci and Kimberly and husband Paul Anziano. She had unending love for her grandchildren, Ali and Mia Helfrich, Mathew and Catherine Anziano and Vittorio and Emma Ricci along with her great granddaughter, Ella Helfrich. She also leaves behind her brothers, Kevin McCarthy and his wife Ellen in Virginia and Michael McCarthy in California and sisters Kathleen Hulmes in Belchertown and Patricia Christ and husband William in New York along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and a number of great friends. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 17th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
