Mary G. Hubert

"Mary Gladys (Stearns) Hubert, 97, died Sunday, October 13. Born in Palmer July 16, 1922, she was the daughter of Horace M. and Ruth (Platt) Stearns. A lifelong resident, she worked for the former Colorado Fuel & Iron for 25 years and then worked in direct care as a supervisor for the former Belchertown State School before retiring. She was a devoted member of the Second Baptist Church and served the church in many ways. She was a Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee and a member of the Ladies Group there. A 60-year member of the Palmer Grange, she was also a 30-year volunteer at the Grange Building at Eastern States Exposition. She also volunteered her time and served as the director to SERVE New England since 1993, the Food Share Program, along with being very active at the Palmer Senior Center. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Elgie Smith and brother Robert Stearns. She leaves many nieces nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A funeral service will be Saturday, November 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, followed by burial in Oak Knoll Cemetery.
