"Rita S. Caprarella, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Mt. Marie Health Care Center. Born in Northampton on October 2, 1921 she was a daughter of the late John and Mable (Sumner) Smith. Rita graduated from Northampton Commercial College and worked her first job at the Pentagon debriefing spies during WWII. She worked as an office business manager for Ed Nacke, Balise Chevrolet, and Jerry Rome. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a member of St. Patrick's Lady's Guild. Rita enjoyed bowling, golfing, reading, cooking, and knitting, but above all, she adored her four grandchildren. She leaves her two daughters, Carole-Ann Goulding of South Hadley and Andrea Reed and her husband Robert of Harwich; four grandchildren, Kimberly O'Leary and her husband Sean, Timothy Goulding and his wife Erin, Brandon Reed and his wife Cailyn, and Kyle Reed; and her seven great grandchildren, Sean and Ryan O'Leary, Colby, Thomas, and Sophie Goulding, and Liobhan and Rhiannon Reed. Rita was predeceased by her son-in-law, Winthrop Goulding. A calling hour will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 10-11am at Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial to follow in St. Patrick's Church at 11:30am. Rites of Committal will be held in St. Rose Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Sisters of St. Joseph, 577 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104. "
