Robert F. Bordeau

"Palmer - Robert F. Bordeau, 66, of Quaboag Valley Co-Op, passed away at home on April 15, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born February 12, 1946 in Holyoke, MA, son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Francis) Bordeau. He proudly served his country in the US Marines during the Korean War. While in the service he worked as a security guard for President Lyndon B. Johnson at the American Embassy in Sole Korea. Robert retired in 2008, after working for 17 years as a Computer Analyst for Big Y Foods. After his retirement, Robert worked part time at Lowe's in Ware. In his leisure, he enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, cooking, spending time with his family and harassing his Yankee fans. He was also an avid Red Sox's fan. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 43 years, Claire (Goulette) of Palmer, daughter Dawn Szymczyk and husband Jay of Ludlow and son Aaron Bordeau and wife Jennifer of Oakridge, TN. He will also be missed by seven siblings, Douglas Bordeau of VT, Beverly Bissonette of Wells, ME, Rena Lavallee, Gary Bordeau, Joyce Chartier, Kevin Bordeau all of Chicopee and Keith Bordeau of Ware. He also leaves his five cherished grandchildren, Michael, Alyssa and Katelyn Szymczyk, Trystan and Emilie Bordeau and many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by two brothers George and Malcolm Bordeau. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:15 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery on Main St., in Agawam. Calling hours will be Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home.
