Robert H Tibbetts

"Shutesbury - Robert H. Tibbetts ,86, died on November 18, 2017 at his home in Shutesbury surrounded by family. Born March 9, 1931 in Turners Falls, MA, he was the son of George and Nellie (Reynolds) Tibbetts. In 1949, he graduated from Turners Falls High School. He proudly served in the US Army in the Third Armored Division in 1952 and was medically discharged with the rank of Pvt. Robert started his working career at Montague Rod and Reel in Montague City. He also worked for Laban Sheet Metal in Montague and Whithill Sheet Metal in Holyoke before his longtime career in several capacities for Sonoco Paper Products for 32 years before retiring March 31, 1996. Active in his community, he served on Shutesbury Fire Dept for 33 years and retired in the position of Captain in 1994. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn E. (Long) Tibbetts along with his son Walter R Tibbetts of Shutesbury. He also leaves a daughter Susan Tecce of Fishkill, NY. Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his siblings Henry Tibbetts, George Tibbetts, Jr., Alice Farrick and Gerald Tibbetts. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St, (Rte 202) . Burial will follow in the West Cemetery, Leverett Rd. in Shutesbury. Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 28 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
