Roland J. Zacharie

"Chicopee - Roland J. Zacharie, 73, of Trilby Ave., passed away on November 24, 2011. He was born November 11, 1938 in Danielson, CT, son of the late Alfonse and Alice (Lambert) Zacharie. Roland worked in quality control for the former Moore Drop Forge Co. currently Danaher Tools for 42 years and retired in 1999. He was a communicant of St. Rose deLima Church. Roland had many hobbies in his life, he enjoyed, gardening, fishing, woodworking and trips to Salisbury Beach. His two greatest passions were spending time with his grandchildren and his annual Halloween Display he put on every year for the children in the neighborhood. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Claire (French) Zacharie of Chicopee and three children, Madeleine Chase and Scott of Ludlow, Denise Raby and Travis of Chicopee and John Zacharie and Jennifer Souza of Branford. he also leaves two brothers, Donald Zacharie of Chicopee and Leo Zacharie of Westfield, a sister Theresa Cummings of WA and 8 grandchildren, Amy, Jessica, Timothy, Jared, Brandon, Alan, Dylan and Jacob. Roland was preceded in death by brother, Gerard Zacharie. Calling hours will be Monday, November 28, 2011from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St.(RT116) South Hadley. Tuesday morning family and friends may gather at the funeral home for 10:00 AM to process to St. Rose de Lima Church for a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial is at the convenience of the family.
