Rose A. Sroka

"Belchertown - Rose A. (Skorupski) Sroka, 93, of Mill Valley Rd., died on July 2, 2012 in Palmer Healthcare Center. She was born January 13, 1919 in Belchertown, daughter of John and Sophia (Kardynal) Skorupski. She was a lifelong resident of Belchertown and communicant of St. Francis Church. Rose was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 45 years and a former Girl Scout leader for years. She also was a waitress for many years at Howard Johnsons and worked in the cafeteria for the Belchertown School system. She is survived by four children, Michael Sroka of Belchertown, Terry Laprade and husband Michael of Granby, Donna Butler and husband Lloyd of Belchertown and Marlene Lunt and husband John of Salem. She will also be missed by nine grandchildren, Sharlene, Christine, Jodi, Lisa, Lloyd, Jr., Colleen, Addi, Timothy and Ashley and five great grandchildren. Rose was preceded in death by husband, Mitchell Sroka in 2002. The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the staff and nurses at the Palmer Healthcare for taking great care of Rose. Family and friends may gather at the Funeral Home on Monday at 10:15 a.m to proceed to a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis Church. Burial follow in the South Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, July 8th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home.
