"Granby, Walter F. Jasiewicz, 76, died peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Holyoke on April 30, 1940, he was the son of Walter P. and Josephine Jasiewicz. He was raised in Chicopee and has resided in Granby since 1970. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He was employed for over 30 years as a salesman for the former Granby Cash and Carry/Street Lumber Co. Walt was a long time parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Walt truly enjoyed time with his family, farming his hay fields and time with close friends at the Granby American Legion Post 266. He will be forever missed and remembered by his wife of 50 years, Dolores (Krawiec), along with their daughter, Linda Kapinos and her husband Joseph of South Hadley along with his brothers, Frank and his wife Gail and their daughter Sarah, and Edward Jasiewicz, all of Chicopee. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, September 21 at 9:00 a.m. from Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., to process for a 10:00 Mass of Funeral at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will be on Friday, September 23 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Chicopee. Donations in Walter's memory may be made to Blue Star Equiculture P.O. Box 7, Bondsville, MA 01009 or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168. Boston, MA 02284 or www.jimmyfund.org/gift."
