Wanda A. Squires

"Belchertown-Wanda Ann Squires, 87, of Belchertown, died Wednesday, November 17th, 2011 at the Palmer Healthcare Center, surrounded by her family and caregivers. She was born in Three Rivers Massachusetts on April 22, 1924 to the late Jan and Zofia (Olearczyk) Stokasa. She was predeceased by her five siblings, her friend Fred Townsend (1980) , her husband Richard Squires( 1985) her son Richard (1998) and husband Lewis in 2005. Wanda loved the ocean, to garden and to cook. She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church. For years she served the community she loved at the Daisy Mae Restaurant in Belchertown and went on to own and operate the Quabbin Sandwich Shoppe in Pelham, Massachusetts. After leaving the restaurant business, she served and loved others at the Belchertown State School where she retired after 13 years of service. Wanda will be deeply missed by her children, Christine Wheeler and her husband Vernon of Belchertown, Linda Lloyd and her husband Norman of Palmer and Tony Joaquin and his wife Darlene of Granby. She was loved by her many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren and extended family. Visitation will be Saturday November 19th from 10:00-12:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home with a funeral ceremony to begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in South Cemetery.
