Edith H. Gaudreau

Chicopee-Edith (Harrington) Gaudreau, 94, passed away September 5, 2026. Edith was born November 9, 1931 in Springfield, daughter of Russell and Eleanor F. (Soper) Harrington. Edith grew up in Wilbraham and graduated from Technical High School.  She worked at Mass Mutual and the former Forbes & Wallace.  Edith retired from JC Penny in 1989, where she worked as an office clerk. Family camping trips along with vacations with friends were most treasured. She and her late husband, Julien, enjoyed summers in Wilbraham at Nine Mile Pond along with many winters in Florida. Edith was also a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church in Wilbraham. In 2011, she was predeceased by her husband, Julien P. Gaudreau and her daughter, Marilyn M. Gaudreau in 2025. Edith will long be remembered by her children, Carol A. Alminas and her husband, Al of East Longmeadow, Ronald P. Gaudreau of East Longmeadow, and Barbara J. LaMothe and her husband, Edward of Palmer. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Steve Alminas and his wife, Erika, Pete Alminas and his wife, Mary Kate, Julie Churchill and her husband, Ryan, Kimberly Marchese and her husband Brian, along with great grandchildren, Chloe, Dylan, Colton, Maverick, Paisley, and Mia. Edith was the youngest of four siblings.  Her sister, Evelyn Riddle of Belchertown survives her. She was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Miller and brother, Leonard Harrington. A visitation will take place Monday, September 14 from 9am-10:30 am at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home with a funeral mass at 11 am at St. Cecilia's Church in Wilbraham. Edith will be laid to rest with her husband and daughter at St. Aloysius Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to a charity of one's choice.
