Edwin L. Thrasher, Jr.
Aug 26, 1953 — Sep 28, 2026
Edwin L. Thrasher Jr., known as Larry and affectionately called “Grumpy” by those who knew him best, passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on August 26, 1953, in Miami, Florida, he was the son of the late Edwin L. Thrasher and Ruth Mabel (Henry) Thrasher.
Larry made Western Massachusetts his home throughout his life. He grew up in Wilbraham and graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School in 1971. After graduation, he attended Springfield Technical Community College, where he earned his associate degree before beginning his career as a computer technician.
While in Texas, Larry met Lucinda Ellen (Holder) Thrasher, the woman who would become his beloved wife. Together, they shared 19 wonderful years of marriage and built a life filled with love and treasured memories.
Music held a special place in Larry’s heart. From the 1970s through the 2000s, he spent many memorable years touring with his bands and sharing his talents on the keyboard and horns. Performing brought him great enjoyment, along with lasting friendships and countless memories made along the way.
Beyond music, Larry found happiness in many of life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool, spending time on the golf course, tending his garden, and going fishing. He also loved to cook and, true to his spirited personality, was never shy about offering an opinion on someone else’s cooking. In recent years, he treasured the best of both seasons, enjoying the warmer months in Massachusetts and spending his winters in Clearwater, Florida.
Larry was reunited in passing with his parents, Edwin L. Thrasher and Ruth Mabel (Henry) Thrasher, and his beloved wife, Lucinda Ellen (Holder) Thrasher, who preceded him in death.
Larry’s memory will be cherished by his daughters, Kristy Gaulin and her husband, Jerry, and Danielle Meacham and her husband, Jonathan; his grandchildren, Kelsey Gaulin, Andrew Gaulin, Evan Gaulin, and Althea Meacham; and his great-grandchildren, Makenna Glidden, Hunter Gaulin, and Evan Gaulin Jr., who is expected in October. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Mark Thrasher and his wife, Maggie, and Hal Thrasher and his wife, Jane, as well as the many extended family members and friends fortunate enough to have known him. All services will be held privately.
