Alice M. Denette

In Loving Memory

Granby- Alice M. Denette, 92, passed away June 28, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 7, 1933 in Holyoke Hospital, daughter of the late Alphonse and Anna (Douville) Turcotte. A lifelong resident of Granby, MA, Alice graduated from South Hadley High School and furthered her education at Fitchburg State University where she earned her bachelor's degree in education. Alice dedicated over 40 years to educating second grade students in both Springfield and in Granby, all while raising 7 children of her own.

Alice was guided in life by her faith and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby where she sang in the choir. She also taught 4H and sewing courses for many years.

Alice always had a deep appreciation for nature and was an outdoor enthusiast. She loved going camping, hiking, and biking with her family. She and her husband, Phil, spent many years traveling across the globe, visiting over 50 countries, all 50 US states, and all provinces of Canada.

Alice will be dearly missed by her loving husband of almost 70 years, Philippe E. Denette; her children, Philippe E. Denette Jr. and his wife Debra of Goodyear, AZ, Christopher L. Denette and wife Cynthia of Guilford, VT, Stephen D. Denette and wife Dawna of Newtown, CT, Matthew J. Denette and wife Lynn of Winchendon, MA, Joseph E. Denette and wife Cheryl of Granby, MA, Donna M. Denette and husband Marek Ludkiewicz of Granby, MA, and Danielle A. Fitzpatrick and husband Joel of Keene, NH; as well as many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her siblings, Alphonse Turcotte, Eugene Turcotte, Rose Beaulieu, and Peggy Tonelli.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10th from 5-8pm at the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Friday, July 11th at 9:30am for a funeral procession to Alice's Funeral Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow in West St. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Alice's memory to the Granby Council of Aging via check made payable to Town of Granby, 10 West State Street, Granby MA 01033.
