Anne Marie Fleury

Anne Marie Fleury, 88, of South Hadley, died peacefully Friday, July 5th, 2024 in her home, surrounded by her children. Born in Chicopee, the daughter of Edward and Verna St Cyr Deloria, she was one of ten children. She graduated from Chicopee High School, and immediately went to work for the City of Chicopee in City Hall.  

She met and married Richard Fleury in 1956, and together they had four children. She was a devoted mother to her children and very involved in their activities. Later, when her kids were old enough, she began a career in retail sales which she was quite proud of - beginning at the Viking in the center of South Hadley, then at G. Fox, and eventually retiring from Macy’s.  

She relished being a homemaker and was very involved in her children’s lives, and later as a proud grandmother to her eight grandchildren. Family was most important to her, and she and Dick would travel to spend time with her children and grandchildren as much as they could. She never missed a celebration or holiday with any of her family.  

Her church was St. Theresa’s of Lisieux in South Hadley where she was extremely involved. She was a faithful Catholic, and she lived her life according to that strong foundational upbringing. From teaching catechism, being a Eucharistic Minister, to leading the parish first communion celebrations each year, to making rosary beads, to the Rosary Altar Society, and anything else that needed to be done, she loved being with her parish family and friends.  

In later years, she had a core group of friends that she went out with every Friday – to the movies, and lunch afterwards. It was her favorite part of the week. Phyllis, Avis, and Joan will miss her a great deal. She was an avid reader who would devour books at a rapid pace, and she loved a good trip to the casino and the slot machines.  

Anne leaves behind a strong legacy of faith and family for her children and grandchildren to carry on.  

She is survived by her three children, Richard Fleury and wife Terie of Port Charlotte, FL, Steven Fleury of Holyoke, MA, and Pamela Mislak and husband Frank of Cohoes, NY, - along with her grandchildren who loved her dearly, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She also leaves behind her brother John Deloria and wife Judy of Chicopee, sister Frances Deloria of Monson, MA, and sister-in-law Laurel Deloria of Reading, CA.  

She was pre-deceased by her husband Richard in 2013 and her daughter Lianne Casey in 2021. Additionally, her brothers Edward Deloria, Ken Deloria, Roland Deloria, Robert Deloria, Gerald Deloria and sisters Jeanne Blanchette and Marie Slowick all predeceased her.  

A wake will be held, Wednesday, July 10th from 4pm-6pm at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton Street. A funeral mass will be held the following day, Thursday, July 11th at 10am at St Theresa’s of Lisieux at 9 East Parkview Drive in South Hadley. Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home at 9am for a funeral procession. Burial in Saint Rose De Lima Cemetery will immediately follow.
